Tips for Purchasing and Using 6061 Aluminum Forgings
- Not all parts need T6. If no higher strength requirement, no need to use T6. Otherwise, will result in excessive performance and cost.
- Be careful with welding on 6061-T6 forged components. Welding will reduce strength of the welding area.
- Can use anodizing, coating, or passivation to further enhance the corrosion resistance of 6061 forgings.
